About this Site
Information about Training
This site is hosted on Moodle, an online ‘Learning Management System’ (LMS). There are pages on here with information about the learning we deliver through the School of Discipleship, Mission and Ministry, and the training we have in development. In that way this site functions like any other website. These sorts of pages (such as the one you’re reading now) do not need to be hosted on an LMS but we have sited them here so that this site becomes the one-stop-shop for learning in our Diocese.
Learning Resources
As well as the sort of information you would find in a training brochure, Moodle is designed to host course content. As this project develops, those sorts of pages, with training content, will grow to outnumber the pages about training. Learners of all sorts will have access to the learning resources they need to complete their courses. Some of those courses may well be delivered entirely online, but many will be delivered in a blended learning format – where the online study is combined with in-person sessions, in parishes, benefices and deaneries. Some other sorts of learning will be delivered entirely in person, with the material on this site functioning more like a manual for the people delivering the training.
How to Use This Site
Read the information in the coloured boxes below to learn how to use this site.
Registering as a user and logging inBefore you can start using the learning resources on this site, you need to register as a user. You may have already received your username and password by email. In that case, use the Log in button at the top right of this home page to enter your details. If you don’t have those details, you can register as a new user using the same link. When the login page opens, click on the Create new account button under the heading ‘Is this your first time here’. Registering and logging in are the first steps in using this site. To gain access to a learning resource, you need to enrol. |

Enrolling for learning resourcesOnce you have registered and logged in, you can enrol for one or more learning resources. Some of the resources listed below are shown as being ‘Invitation Only’. This means you need to be on a learning programme for a recognised form of ministry. You should already have received an invitation to enrol, or even have been enrolled by the learning facilitator. Others are shown as ‘Open Access’. This means that anyone who is eligible to register for the site, or has already been registered can make use of that learning resource. Click on the name of the resource in the purple box. For some you will need an enrolment key. Email learning@elydiocese.org to request the key for the learning resource you want. The key is a simple code you enter to gain access. |

Using learning resourcesOnce You can see which learning resources you are enrolled on by visiting your Dashboard. There is a link in the menu bar in the site header. Click on the learning resource name to open it. There will be some introductory information on the page that opens, with a collection of ‘tiles’ underneath with a short title and an image for each session or unit of learning. Click on the short title to open the content for each. When you are viewing the learning content for a session or unit, you can navigate between them using the small titles at the left and right near the top of the page. They are also repeated at the bottom. Enjoy your learning! Scroll down to the list of Currently Available Learning Resources to begin. |
